Following the summary, students will respond to Romano’s article in a 150-word (minimum) reflection 2. You will be responsible for reading and annotating Romano’s article. When creating your annotations, please follow the key below. 3. Along with the highlights, students should summarize the text in their own words at the end. This summary can be 5-7 sentence Annotation Key: Yellow Highlight: Main Idea. This includes the thesis statement and paragraph topic sentences. Blue Highlight: Points of interest. Pink Highlight: Questions about the text. Green Highlight: Words you don’t know. Each highlight needs to be accompanied with marginalia (notes in the margins). Notes paired with yellow highlights should put the main idea in your own words. They can also connect the ideas found in paragraphs back to the thesis or discuss how the ideas fail to connect. Notes paired with blue highlights should explain the point of interest/why it stood out to you. Notes paired with pink highlights should pose the question you have about the text at that moment.
