Leadership

The leadership competency requires NP to incorporate complex leadership opportunities to foster change in hospital facilities. A nurse practitioner is required to apply the process of critical thinking when handling crisis management and disagreements among healthcare staff. For example, in the medical wards, a nurse leader would develop a timetable for nurses to work in different shifts to ensure teamwork. It also ensures that NPs portray effective communication. NPs are required to use treatment interventions appropriately to provide quality and affordable services. I would apply the quality competency to provide quality clinical and professional care to the patients, and also initiate quality improvement projects with realistic goals.

Practice inquiry

It is a core competency that requires NPs to demonstrate leadership in implementing new knowledge from scientific research and humanities related to nursing. They are also required to generate information from clinical expertise to achieve better patient outcomes. It also focuses on applying medical investigative techniques to optimize clinical outcomes. Nurse practitioners must understand trends in health information, such as using electronic health records for storage, retrieval, billing, and inter-faculty transfer of patient information in the hospital setting. NPs should synthesize research studies and adopt measures recommended for quality improvement. I would apply the inquiry competency at the hospital to initiate clinical investigative projects aiming to improve the health status of the patients at the facility. Technology and Information Literacy

A practitioner must possess the ability to manage information, communicate health information to users, and inform and enhance efficient clinical information systems designs. Additionally, it supports health information technology that makes care assessment possible. In addition to helping patients and caregivers understand diseases and treatments, it also encourages them to make good changes. When making difficult decisions, a nurse must display information literacy abilities. Order to identify contemporary evidence-based care also necessitates utilizing technological resources like online databases and data storage (Drayton-Brooks et al., 2020). Through technology and information literacy, I would integrate different technological infrastructure at community based level to promote positive behavioral changes. I would also disseminate scientific research from the hospital and share it with other hospital and health care teams. Policy

This core competency provides an awareness of how policy and practice are interdependent. Additionally, it promotes moral laws that advance affordability, quality, access, and equity. Additionally, nurses should demonstrate their understanding of the political, economic, and political and environmental aspects of the policy analysis process. (Edwards et al.,2018). They should examine the ethical, legal, and social influences on policymaking. The federal budget and the nation’s top health goals should include nurse practitioners in health policy and reform. Nurse practitioners should also be aware of global issues such as immigration, pandemics, and terror activities which may impact the healthcare system negatively, and plan accordingly.

Health delivery system

This core competency focuses on developing culturally competent care, analyzing how healthcare systems influence all parties involved and using negotiation and relationship-building to improve healthcare. It significantly reduces hazards for both patients and providers. (Sherwood & Barnsteiner, 2020). The NP would consider a partnership with other healthcare staff in consensus building and negotiations to improve the quality of health services. As a qualified nurse, I would develop strategies to reduce risks and injuries to patients and other healthcare workers, such as oncology and radiation nurses, by providing protective equipment against radio waves. It also ensures teamwork while implementing changes in the continuum of care. As a nurse practitioner, I would apply the policy competency in advocating for patients’ rights at federal and state hospitals. Ethics

This competence ensures that nurse practitioners consolidate ethical principles in decision-making. They should evaluate the application of ethical consideration in care delivery and its consequences (Barkhordari-Sharifabad et al., 2018). They should show tolerance to patients with different cultural values and advise those whose practices will impact their health negatively. They should also explore different ethical decision-making sources, such as clinical research, legal statuses, and religious affiliations. They should also be keen to provide spiritual services to patients and their relatives and evaluate the outcome of their decisions. I would incorporate the ethical competency during medical research at community health care level. I would also explore ethical consequences of certain clinical practices that do are not culturally accepted by the community members, and seek the input of other members of the staff.

Independent Practices

The competency allows a practitioner to function effectively independently and prescribe pharmaceuticals in line with local legislation. It offers palliative end-of-life care, preventative care, counseling, health promotion and protection, and treatment planning and execution. It offers health promotion for people of all ages and families. This capability also functions in a very accountable manner professionally. The independent practice valuable has enabled me as a nurse practitioner to engage in various advocacy activities at the community level. I have applied this competency in managing health status of the patients.

Engaging in social change in my community

The core competencies have enabled me to handle patients holistically and ensure that teamwork and collaboration persist in the healthcare system. As a nurse practitioner, I would facilitate various community strategies, such as providing health education to society, advising federal health agencies on the population’s specific health needs, and pushing for equity in health resource allocation.
