EBP is essential to the practice of a BSN-prepared RN because it provides a framework for making clinical decisions that are based on the best available evidence. This evidence can come from research studies, clinical case studies, or other sources. EBP also helps RNs to maintain a high level of patient care by providing them with the tools they need to document their decisions and observations (Brunton & Cook, 2018). Finally, EBP helps RNs to reflect on their practice and improve their skills. All of these factors ensure that BSN-prepared RNs are able to provide quality patient care. The two ways in which I plan to integrate evidence into my practice and encourage it within my work environment are by using a clinical decision support system (CDSS) and by participating in professional development workshops (Pyankov, 2021). Both of these methods help me to make informed decisions based on the best available evidence.
What obstacles could challenge this plan, and what steps will you take to minimize their impact?
The obstacles that could challenge this plan are if I am not able to find the time to use a CDSS or if I am not able to attend professional development workshops. This will negatively impact my ability to provide quality patient care (Shayan et al., 2019). I will take steps to minimize the impact of these obstacles by scheduling time for using a CDSS and attending workshops on an as-needed basis. This will help me to provide the best possible patient care. Additionally, by keeping track of my goals and objectives, I will be able to track my progress and make adjustments as needed.
