Select a period in American history (decade or era). Examples-colonial era; progressive era; the 30’s; post-Civil War. Discuss the economic, political and ideological conditions informing the development and/or changes in social welfare policies and the delivery of social services in that era. Include a discussion of the status and influence of social work profession during that period. Compare that period to today’s policies. What is similar and different from then and now? Indicate how the period treated one or more oppressed or vulnerable populations. Analyze how aspects of that historical period are reflected (or not) in your field or other agency. Use at least 6 readings to bolster analysis. (4-6 pages). Each paper should begin with an Introduction to the topic and to the paper. Address all aspects of assignment. Use of sub-headings is a good way to organize academic papers. Papers will be considered incomplete if any part of assignment is omitted. Use proper and sufficient citations (minimum six).
