In This Presentation, Using The Coroner’s Case Provided, You Should Therefore Reflect On Professional, Legal And Ethical Issues That Impact On The Decisions Made By Nurses When Planning, Implementing And Evaluating Nursing Care.

You Should Consider How Certain Factors In The Case Provided Might Relate To:

  • The Nursing And Midwifery Board Of Australia (NMBA) Nursing Standards
  • NMBA Code Of Conduct
  • International Council Of Nurses (ICN) Code Of Ethics
  • NSQHS Standards

Review The Coroner’s Case You Have Been Allocated (Students Will Receive Their Coroner’s Case Allocation Via Teams In Week Five) And Identify Any Legal, Ethical, Quality And Safety Issues Involved In The Death Of The Patient, Reflecting Upon Your Own Knowledge Acquired From Your Theoretical Education And Clinical Experience Thus Far.

The Following Aspects Should Be Considered In Your Presentation:

  • A Brief (Concise) Overview Of The Background And Context Of The Case
  • How This Case Might Relate To The NMBA Standards, NMBA Code Of Conduct And/Or The ICN Code Of Ethics, NSQHS Standards
  • Evidence-Based Nursing Practice Recommendations To Lessen The Likelihood Of Further And Similar Outcomes

Outline Only The Main Points.
Do Not Try To Include All The Detail. Look At The Marking Rubric To See What You Should Consider Including. Be Concise And To The Point.

Decide On Your Points Before You Make Slides.

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Remember To Breathe And Have Pauses Don’t Try To Talk Too Fast.

Don’t Depend Too Much On The Content On The Slides : Keep To Just One Or Two Points Per Slide.
Make The Slides Flexible Enough That If You Fall Behind You Are Not Going To Lose Your Place And Become Flustered.

Make Your Talk Fault-Tolerant:
