1. Your new 18-year old client Jennifer tells you, “my boyfriend is away at college and last night he didn’t return my phone calls. I called him 15 times between 10 o’clock and 3 a.m. That’s when I finally cried myself to sleep. I know he was out with another girl. I’m so angry. He’s going to do to me what my father did to my mother. I was just 7 when my dad moved away and started another family. Every weekend I would wait at the window for him to come and visit me. Sometimes he would forget and I would cry all night. I felt so bad. When I was 16 I started cutting myself; it was the only thing that made me feel better.”
