D1.1 Assessment Component 1 – 20%, word equivalent 750 words
This consists of 10 MCQ quizzes available to be completed via Moodle. The first quiz will be available in week 3 and thereafter each quiz will be available every week up to week 12. Each quiz will be open only for 2 weeks and you must complete it within this 2-week window.

There will a report to submit based on case scenario in the Week 15

Assessment Task: Case Scenario
“Badea Cleaning Service Limited” is a small business for window cleaning established in 2010 and currently employs ten employees in various positions, including drivers, cleaners, and office staff. Company is based in Birmingham, but the company has been running losses since 2019 due to the rising cost of living, the effects of COVID-19, and poor management.
Last week, the company was given the ultimatum of 4 months to register for bankruptcy if things do not change. On Monday, the owner of the business called in a management consultancy company, and four problems were identified.

Employees do not know what they are doing in the business – Think about the meaning of management.
There is a fundamental lack of skills required in this industry – Think about what managers can do. And then think about the purpose of this business – Use principles of management topic covered, choose one core principle and justify whether you think that approach will be suitable for company.
The company is spending too much on marketing. – investigate and solve the problem – You can do a SWOT, PESTLE analysis or Porter’s five forces to identify and describe a problem.
Lack of clear business strategy – Consider a business strategy suitable for the company and justify your argument.
Your tasks

Conduct a detailed SWOT analysis or PESTLE analysis, or Porter’s Five Forces analysis specific to Badea’s Cleaning Service Limited

Propose recommendations and solutions based on management principles learned in the module.
The recommendations may include following aspects;
a) the most appropriate organisational structure to improve efficiency and accountability
b) Strategies to boost employee motivation and retention.
c) Marketing strategies to regain market share and address declining product lines.
d) Increased social media presence and digital marketing to boost brand visibility and engagement.
e) Integration of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) practices to enhance sustainability and brand reputation.

Submissions made after the deadline should be made using the same submission mode as stated in this assessment brief. These include late submissions, extensions, ILPs (Individual Learning Plans) and RAPs (Reasonable Adjustment Plans).
As per the General Academic Regulations work submitted up to seven calendar days after the date of the submission date will, if deemed a pass, have 5 marks deducted from the mark awarded, or receive, if the mark is 45 or less, a maximum mark of 40% for undergraduate programmes, or if the mark is 55 or less a maximum mark of 50% for taught Masters and PGCE programmes. Resits with or without penalty are not eligible for the late submission allowance.
Resits and assessments submitted as agreed by the Mitigating Circumstances Board should be made using the same submission mode as stated in this assessment brief. If the mode is via Moodle, a Moodle Assessment submission link entitled ‘Resits’ will appear on the Moodle page for these submissions.
