You are going to design a toy for a preschool age child! Developmental psychologists view play as the major means through which physical, cognitive, and social skills are mastered during the preschool years (ages 2-6). Unfortunately, many adults are so imbued with the work ethic that they tend to denigrate children’s play. Some even punish their children for “horsing around,” criticize preschool teachers for letting children play too much, or schedule their children’s lives so heavily with lessons and chores that there is little time for play. Your assignment for this forum is to design an ORIGINAL toy suitable for preschool aged children, keeping in mind the 3 domains of development (biosocial, cognitive, and psychosocial). Your original toy must address at least one task from each of the 3 domains of development. Make sure you address each of the following questions: What is the name of your toy? How does a child play with your toy? How does it work? What is the biosocial task? Be specific. What is the cognitive task? Be specific. What is the psychosocial task? Be specific. Use AI to generate an image of your toy. Copy/paste image into your assignment. You can use any AI generator you choose. Here is the one that I often use: CLICK HERE
