CSIT114 System Analysis CSIT114 Assignment Brief Instructions Lab Instructions:

In this lab, the students are required to work in pairs. Please show your work to the tutor present in the lab before submitting it.

Submission Due: End of laboratory class, submit the file on Moodle at least 10 minutes before the end of laboratory class.

Total Marks = 2.5 Marks

Marks will be given only to students who attend and participate during 2-hour laboratory class. Submission on Moodle is mandatory as evidence of participation.

Learning Outcomes LO1 Analyse the complementary roles of different stakeholders including clients, users, and analysts in the development of computer-based information systems. LO2 Identify system requirements using different fact-finding techniques. LO3 Perform analysis of computer-based information systems and present a system design LOS using different modelling approaches such as data and process models, business models, and object models. Work in a group to apply the knowledge and skills presented in this subject to typical system analysis scenarios.

Objectives Understanding and Practicing The six core processes of the SDLC. Practicing the application of system development methodologies. Understanding and Practicing Project Planning. Lab Task 1 IBM is a large consulting firm that has offices around the world. Firas is a Systems Analyst Consultant working for IBM consulting firm, and he was sent to a client for IBM. Firas met the client and he collected the requirements of the Customer Relation Management (CRM) system which the client would like to develop. This is the first time the client will create an CRM system and the requirements of the system are still not clear. Moreover, the client would like to have an initial version of the system ready within a short time. Which methodology should Firas adopt for this project (0.2 Mark)? Justify your choice by listing 2 arguments (0.2 Marks, 0.1 Mark for each argument).

Lab Task 2 In this task, you are provided with a table that demonstrates the six core processes iterations of the SDLC. Answer the following two questions:

  1. Explain what the Iterations section of the following table illustrates (0.2 Marks). Iteration means repeating. The iterations section below shoes us how often the developer is repeating the steps of a core process within a time period. A developer does this to develop or advance the core processes.

2.Explain what the rounded mounds inside the iterations section present(0.2 Marks)

Lab Task 3 What are the diferent factors of PESTEL Analysis management framework?(0.3 Marks, each factor 0.05 Marks)

Lab Task 4 During the lecture of week 1, you studied an example of how we can divide a project task for one SDLC iteration using Agile and Iterative Methods. You can refer to the PowerPoint slides which can guid you in completing this task, but it is not necessary to divide the tasks during the days of the iteration in the same way of the example, you can come up with your own way of dividing the tasks.

In this task, you are required to present the first iteration of SDLC which can be used to develop an online car rental system. The first iteration that you will come up with should be completed in seven days. (1.4 Marks, each day 0.2 Marks)
