A policy that Impacts a Family Nurse Practitioner Assignment

A policy that Impacts a Family Nurse Practitioner Assignment

Nursing practice policies define the scope and vision for the future, which subsequently helps to determine targets and references while helping clarify priorities (Healthcare Policy: What Is It and Why Is It Important, 2022). Regarding family nurse practitioners, different policies are used to define roles and establish expectations. FNPs are trained as NP and attain additional clinical and formal training to provide care to adults and children to help them maintain a healthy and safe lifestyle. The role and scope of NPs are defined by the state’s nurses’ practitioners’ levels of scope and practice environment details. FNPs are required by law to understand the scope of NP practice in their state. This policy regulates the position and extent to which an FNP nurse can practice. States are defined as either full practice, reduced, or restricted practice. According to Brom et al. (2018), states with full practice participates in patient evaluation, diagnosis, order, and interpretation results. They can also manage treatments, including drug prescriptions, as per their state’s board of nursing authorization. Reduced practice, on the other hand, demands NPs to engage in a regulated collaborative agreement with a physician to provide patient care. The NP is limited to one aspect of NP practice. Finally, the restricted practice restricts NPs’ ability to a career extended supervision and team management by a qualified health provider such as a physician for an NP to provide patient care.

Since the adoption of ACA, there has been an increased number of people seeking healthcare services. The application of the nursing scope policy by the states has derailed Americans’ access to universal and affordable care, especially in states with restrictions and reduced practice scope (Brom et al., 2018). The regulation limits the nurses even when they can perform without a physician or another qualified expert supervision. Nurses can participate in policy development by joining or being members of professional nursing organizations, where they can give their feedback and experiences with patients and in their practice, enabling the development of policies that align with changes within nursing practice. Being part of a professional nursing organization allows one to lobby for nursing issues. I can also write to state representatives regarding a need for healthcare policy change or formulation. Consider how you would respond as an advanced practice nurse. Review evidence-based practice guidelines and ethical considerations applicable to the scenarios you selected. A policy that Impacts a Family Nurse Practitioner Assignment
The Lab Assignment
Write a detailed one-page narrative (not a formal paper) explaining the health assessment information required for a diagnosis of your selected patient (include the scenario number). Explain how you would respond to the scenario as an advanced practice nurse using evidence-based practice guidelines and applying ethical considerations. Justify your response using at least three different references from current evidence-based literature. A policy that Impacts a Family Nurse Practitioner Assignment
