Assessment Task:

Write a critical argument on the topic used in Assessment 1- Annotated Bibliography. Provide supporting evidence for the argument from the resources used in Assessment 1.

Context:

This assessment has been prescribed to appraise your ability to think critically and form an argument supported by evidence. It allows you to demonstrate your ability to understand the material you are using and to apply it in ways that go beyond what has been read. 

 

This assessment has been designed to:

•        Enhance your writing skills so they can form persuasive and convincing arguments and communicate them effectively. 

•        Practice the art of writing succinctly.

•        Use 5 resources from the annotated bibliography completed in Assessment 1 to complete Assessment 2.

 

Instructions:

1.       Write a critical argument in one page on the topic given in Assessment 1.

 

2.       Your one-page assessment does not include the title page that you attach at the front and reference list at the very end of the assessment.

 

3.       Use the annotated bibliography resources from Assessment 1 for sourcing evidence and ideas for your argument. Review the resources critically and select 5 annotated bibliographies from Assessment 1 to work on this assessment.

 

4.       Please consider the following factors, when forming the argument:

•        A good argument is convincing whereby the premises are acceptable, the supporting evidence is relevant to the claim and provides sufficient grounds for acceptance of the claim. 

•        You will be expected to form an academic argument in favour, or against to justify your claim.

 

5.       Please structure your argument as follows:

•        Title page

•        Introduction: provide a short introduction with a claim.

•        Main body: with a logical structure including supporting evidence from academic sources.

•        Conclusion: a concise conclusion which restates your claim and summarises your argument.

•        References: please provide the reference list on a separate page.

 

6.       Please use a minimum of 7 references for completing Assessment 2. Out of the 7 references, at least 5 references will be from Assessment 1. Use Connecting words to form and connect your arguments logically.

 

7.       You are strongly advised to read the rubric, which is an evaluation guide with criteria for grading your assignment—this will give you a clear picture of what a successful forming an argument looks like.

 

Referencing:

It is essential that you use the current APA style for citing and referencing the sources that you use. All your information gathered using Gen AI will have to be duly referenced as per APA 7th edition referencing style. Assessment Due Dates and Late Penalties:

Assessments may be submitted on or before the due date. Late penalties apply for submissions received after the due date unless an approved special consideration request is in place. These includes 10% deduction per day for 5 days; if your submission is late by over 5 days, you will be marked zero for the assessment. Refer to:
