Project Brief
The Final Project in the MSc Project Management course is the culmination of your studies. It will form a framework for the central ideas and concepts developed throughout the entire programme at Ravensbourne. Through the realisation of the advanced final project, you will demonstrate evidence of advanced conceptual and theoretical capability over an extended period of self-directed study.
To give an overview from ideation to resolution, consider all the outcomes of your work developed throughout your whole MSc course. Consider the relationship between the theoretical discourses pursued within your studies and the practical manifestation of your knowledge of Project Management.
This is an advanced project regarded as an exercise in the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data analysis, creative thinking, strategic management related directly to your subject discipline. It should support either further studies or your professional trajectory.
The Final Project is divided into two separate formats:
(1) DISSERTATION/PORTFOLIO (70%)
Students are expected to produce written work in the form of ONE of the following options (Route A or Route B). This will form the basis of 70% of your grade:
(a) Dissertation (Theoretical Research Format)
A traditional dissertation of 7,500 words (+/-10%), excluding references and appendices. This is an academic research study addressing a project management research question. It should include:
Abstract research summary.
Introduction research problem, aims, objectives.
Literature Review critical evaluation of existing research and theories.
Methodology research design, data collection, analytical approach, ethics.
Results & Discussion findings, analysis, links to literature.
Conclusion & Recommendations – key contributions, implications, future research.
References Harvard referencing required.
Appendices supporting evidence (raw data, consent forms, ethics approval).
