HS7008 Summative Assignment

First:

You need to choose the topic that you would like to investigate for your formative assignment.

Remember:

• Normally, this topic will carry through to your summative assignment which is the protocol (plan) for your dissertation, and then to the dissertation itself.
• This means you will be spending a lot of time with this subject, so make sure it is one that interests you.
• You are not assigned topics for this work, so you may choose any topic you wish for your assignment. However, you must make sure that your topic is on Public Health. Do not choose a clinical subject.
• While you can change your topic from the one you chose for your formative in the future if you want to, I would not recommend this. You will receive feedback on your formative on how to improve it, but if you change your topic for the summative, you won’t have the benefit of any of this help. It would be more sensible to keep the same topic and use the feedback you were given to improve your work for the summative.
• You may apply your topic to any age group, sex, ethnicity etc. you choose, but make sure you chose your own, unique

Next:

Open the template provided:

• Use the template given, and follow the instructions in each section to present your own work (please remove all instruction text before submission).
• Remember to keep your submission to 2 pages maximum. This assignment is to ensure that your choices are on the right track, long descriptions are not required at this stage.

Formatting:

• Please submit your assignment as a Word document only.
• Please make sure that your submitted work looks professional. Some suggestions are:
  • Use basic fonts such as Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman.
  • Text size should be 12-point, but headings, titles etc can be larger to make them stand out more if you wish.
  • Spacing should be 1.5 space between lines.
  • Justify the text (so that the right and left hand sides are all lined up)

Tips:

• There are no secrets, everything necessary is in the class slides on Moodle, eg. when developing your research question, go to the slides for Week 2- The Research Question.
• Make sure you write every word yourself. I will not mark you down for errors in writing or English. Do not use any form of AI (including writing or paraphrasing programmes such as Grammarly, Quillbot etc.). If there is evidence of this, you are at risk of Academic Misconduct and will be dealt with according to university procedures.
