Summary of strengths:
|
I have compared the clinical skills assessment from the previous, and I noticed that many skills had been improved. I am thrilled after seeing how much I am improved. When I first started my PMHNP clinical, I was shocked and realized that there were many skills that I should acquire. I was afraid, but now that I checked the skills that I have learned, I feel so much more confident. I noticed that I have performed at least once that is mentioned on this form. I am comfortable doing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations on patients with maintaining professional boundaries and the therapeutic relationship. I can stay calm and listen to patient concerns with solid empathy while maintaining professional boundaries. I also noticed that I am good at building a trusting relationship with them. Opportunities for growth:
|
During this clinical, I will be doing more psychotherapy with patients. From previous clinical, I noticed that many patients want to rely on medication and hope everything will be fine automatically without trying anything else. I firmly believe these patients need medications to help them through it. However, patients also need to work for themselves to fight their illnesses. As I am doing psychotherapy, I would love to learn how healthcare providers are helping people with psychotherapy and educating and motivating them. As doing a self-skills assessment, I found out that my weakest part is selecting and implementing appropriate screening instruments, interpreting results, and making recommendations, as I have yet to do much in the last clinical. This time, I would want to practice more and be more confident in implementing and do actual recommendations. PMHNP PRAC 6645 Clinical Skills Discussion

Now, write three to four (3–4) possible goals and objectives for this practicum experience. Ensure that they follow the SMART Strategy, as described in the Learning Resources.
| 1. I will formulate differential diagnoses for every patient I assess. By the end of this quarter, I will feel confident in diagnostic reasoning.
2. I will get involved in formulating care plans for patients that incorporate individual, family, or group psychotherapy interventions with my preceptor as much as possible during this quarter.
3. I will advocate health promotion and patient education with knowledge that I will acquire in this class and evaluate how patients follow the instruction during this quarter. PMHNP PRAC 6645 Clinical Skills Discussion

Initial post should be a minimum of 400 words. Responses/cross posts should be 200 words for each.
Post responses to the following discussion topics. Students must respond to a minimum of two of their peers’ postings on different dates.
You must have 2 or more references for your initial post and 1 or more (different) references for responses/cross posts.
You are reviewing your student evaluations from the course you taught last semester. Several comments include, “the instructor just rambles about her personal life and does not lecture about the content”. How do you feel about the comments? What will you do differently the next time this course is taught? Please use the posted readings to support your responses/actions. PMHNP PRAC 6645 Clinical Skills Discussion
