PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION ASSESSMENT 1 

Group Work (5 Members Per Group)

The aim of the project is to show the importance of communication in a workplace as well as give students a synoptic view of how mishandling of communication in the workplace has potential to disrupt the operations in the organisation.

Objectives

1. To demonstrate professional communication for smooth operation
2. To provide a hands on/practical opportunity of learning about communication within the workplace
3. To open a window for discussion
4. To enhance creativity, problem solving skills and team – work

ACTIVITIES

1. In your groups, assign individual roles and responsibilities for areas of research.
2. Create a business entity/organization and outline the service/product it offers.
3. Show the structure of the organisation and how it is run.
4. Outline how communication flows and how it is managed.

CORE OF THE ASSIGNMENT – CREATE A SCENARIO

1. Outline a possibility of where the communication flow can be interrupted/disturbed and the consequences thereof.
2. Outline the mitigation strategy or how as an entity the issue is addressed (indicate the use of documentation – e.g. policies, regulations etc. in place.

Research on

1. The nature of that business or organization and show how it is run
2. How information is managed in that kind of environment.
3. How such a communication issue is handled and apply it to your organization
4. Use Harvard Referencing

Deliverables

1. A report of not less than 4 typed pages excluding cover page, reference pages appendices.
