TEXTBOOK: THE INCLUSIVE MINDSET HOW TO CULTIVATE DIVERSITY IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE JUSTIN JONES-FOSU Introduction and Alignment Often, the actions we take and behaviors that are observed by others reveal a lot about our Christian or faith worldview. We have only to look at Jesus’s actions to learn more about His worldview. One of the major themes of Jesus’s worldview was service to others and dying to one’s self. In Chapter 11 of your textbook, the author highlights the concepts of advocacy and allyship. He describes these concepts as more important than mere terms. The author identifies advocacy and allyship as ways we can choose to live. Allyship is one way we can choose to follow Jesus’s examples. The author takes allyship a step further and gives readers Ten Tips for Allyship. The tips help us become allies who are more active and who are consistently willing to become uncomfortable in order to help others. These tips will be the basis for this identification exercise, so please prepare yourself to do some internal research. Think about what you’d like to change about your level of allyship. Select a minimum of 5 of the allyship tips that apply to you and your life. Please feel free to select more than 5 tips as each person’s life circumstances are different. Create a new Word or Google document titled “(Your Name’s) Allyship Goals” and save it to your device. Make a list of the 5 or more allyship tips you selected. After each of the 5 or more selected tips, detail specifically how you could make that tip an attainable goal. For example: let’s say you selected Tip #2 about educating yourself and you wanted to learn more about the 1921 Race Massacre. For this assignment, you might detail what specific books, videos, and websites you’ll read/visit along with a trip to today’s location of Black Wall Street. Submit your completed Allyship Goal document.
