Assignment Question

You have been selected to represent your university in an international Level 7 student organisation focused on Population Healthcare and Health

Improvement. You are required to produce a critical essay of no more than 3,000 words (±10%) that evaluates the process of conducting a community health needs assessment (CHNA), using relevant data, and analyses how healthcare systems can work collaboratively with public health to enhance health outcomes.

Your Essay Should Include:

  • A clear introduction using the “What, why, how” approach, defining key concepts (e.g., community health needs assessment, population health, health outcomes).
  • An understanding and knowledge of community health needs assessment and population health demonstrating depth of understanding of CHNA and population health concepts
  • Essay should offer a critical appraisal of CHNA process demonstrating depth of critique of methods, tools, and processes
  • Essay should offer integration of data, literature, and policy evidence.
  • Analysis of system collaboration with focus on healthcare–public health integration
  • Demonstration of argument, structure and academic writing with clarity, flow, and coherence
  • Critical thinking and synthesis with depth of intellectual engagement
  • Use of academic references, official public health documentation, and grey literature to support your arguments.
  • A conclusion summarising key arguments and providing recommendations for improving public health surveillance and environmental policy alignment.
  • A reference list using the Harvard referencing style.
