Nursing School Windshield Survey

Important Instructions for the Nursing School Windshield Survey

This survey is for nursing school and focuses on District 23 in Davidson County, Tennessee, which includes Bellevue, Belle Meade, and West Meade.

Please follow these instructions carefully:

1. Industries

From the Windshield Survey, answer ONLY the following questions:

  • What are the major industries located in the area?
  • What types of occupations are evident?

Focus specifically on the industries and types of jobs/occupations that are present in Bellevue, Belle Meade, and West Meade (District 23).

2. People in the Community

Answer ONLY these questions:

  • Who is in the area during the day?
  • What evidence is there of particular “classes” of people – upper, middle, working, lower?

Describe the people who are commonly present during the daytime and provide evidence that may indicate the different socioeconomic groups/classes represented in the area.

3. County Health Rankings

After completing the two sections above, use the 2023 County Health Rankings report:

https://www.countyhealthrankings.org/reports/2023-county-health-rankings-national-findingsreport

Use the report to find information that supports or provides context for ONLY these two topics:

  • Industries / occupations
  • People in the community / socioeconomic classes

Do NOT answer the other Windshield Survey categories such as housing, transportation, ethnicity, religion, health and morbidity, protective services, etc.

The final information should stay strictly focused on Industries and People in the Community, as required by the nursing school assignment.

Also, please make the information specific to District 23 (Bellevue, Belle Meade, and West Meade) in Davidson County, Tennessee, rather than describing all of Nashville unless the information is directly relevant to this area.

The attached Windshield Survey rubric should also be used to make sure the answers follow the assignment requirements. The rubric specifically lists “People in the Community” and “Industries” as separate assessment topics.

One more important thing: Please carefully review the entire Windshield Survey rubric/instructions and double-check my requirements before completing the research. If there is anything I have missed, overlooked, or need to include specifically for the Industries and People in the Community sections, please let me know and include it.
