PHL 218 Module Two Project Proposal Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
In our global society, numerous ethical issues need to be addressed every day. It is easy to feel overwhelmed and not know where to focus our attention. This Module Two project proposal will help you begin focusing on a single global ethical issue, which you will explore for your project. Throughout the term, you will complete assignments that examine this issue from different perspectives, and you will express your own personal ethical standards as you understand them. You will begin by choosing a topic.
Directions
For this assignment, you will use the Project Resources provided in the Supporting Materials section below to help you select the topic that you will explore for your project. The approved list in the document provides different areas to write your project on, as well as themes that relate to those areas. For this assignment, you will choose an area to write about and a theme within that area to explore.
This assignment builds toward portions of Part One and Part Two of the project, in which you will expand on these responses and integrate additional project components. Before working on this assignment, consult the Project Guidelines and Rubric to become familiar with the scope of the project. Note that you will not be providing a solution to your global ethical issue in the final project. Instead, your goal is to look at the steps to discuss, examine, and evaluate the ethical aspects of possible outcomes of your decision making.
Refer to the Project Resources to choose a topic. With instructor approval, you may choose a topic that is not on the list.
Specifically, you must address the following:
Global Ethical Issue: Describe the specific global ethical issue to be addressed.
Name the theme you will address from the Project Resources.
Name the specific issue you will address within that theme.
Prominent Ethical Dilemma: Describe the prominent ethical dilemma that exists within your chosen topic.
Include the perspective of both sides of the dilemma.
Using an Ethical Framework From a Global Perspective: Explain the benefit of using an ethical framework from a global perspective as it relates to your chosen topic.
Diverse Ethical Perspectives: Explain how diverse ethical perspectives can benefit how your topic is addressed.
What to Submit
Your submission should be a 1- to 2-page Microsoft Word document with 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Use 1 to 2 sources from the Project Resources or the Shapiro Library to support your paper. Sources should be cited according to APA style both throughout and at the end of your paper.
Although Brightspace allows the addition of video notes in assignment submissions, you may not use the Video Note tool to complete this assignment.
