Learning Outcomes On the completion of this paper students will be able to:

Critically review current literature and practice of how nutrition influences wellness. Critically evaluate the nutritional factors that influence outcomes in wellness and the effectiveness of different treatment modalities/interventions for a range of lifestyle and long-term conditions. Incorporate and evaluate the concepts of client-focused problem planning, goal-setting, targets and time frames, and outcome measurement into the design of a nutritional programme. Evaluate ethical and cultural nutritional issues and interdisciplinary teamwork as they relate to wellness coaching and rehabilitation services and their delivery in Aotearoa / New Zealand. Critically evaluate models for change and practical tools to assess and promote readiness for behavioural change. Apply research, analysis, critique, problem-solving, implementation skills and understanding to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate nutritional health enhancement and lifestyle management programmes for clients. Assignment Task The wellness dietary assessment is designed for you to understand how to evaluate your present diet against New Zealand dietary recommendations as well as understanding how to modify your diet for a wellness specific diet.

You will achieve these outcomes via:

Comparing and evaluating your current diet results against New Zealand recommended daily intake (NZ RDI). Modify your present diet to follow a wellness specific diet for three weeks. Complete the wellness specific diet for three weeks. Record and analyse the three-weeks wellness specific diet. Evaluate your wellness specific diet. Explain the principles of your wellness specific diet using the current research on your diet. Part 1: Present Diet: Evaluate your present diet using different dietary assessments. Use New Zealand recommended daily intakes for macronutrients and micronutrients for comparing and evaluating the present diet. 

Part 2: Wellness Specific Diet: (Must Check With Tutor Before Starting Your Diet) Modify your diet. You need to give a dietary plan for the three-week period. Record the three-week diet onto the diet record sheet/diary. Analysis of wellness specific diet by using computer software (give a summary rather than all the information). Part 3: Evaluation Of The Wellness Specific Diet: Evaluate the success and barriers of your intervention diet.

Part 4: Explain The Principles Of Your Wellness Specific Diet: Structure of part four:

Make sure you use current scientific literature.

Introduction: Introduce the wellness specific diet that you have chosen and explain the main issues around this topic. Explain the principles of your wellness specific diet. You will need to explain the scientific reasoning behind the diet. Conclude the topic. Make sure you cover the key findings from research of the topic. Part 5: Formatting Your assessment should follow School of Health, Exercise and Recreation guidelines.

Explain the principles of the wellness diet and elaborated with the latest scientific research on the topic. The conclusion section must clearly define and highlight your key findings. 60% Part 5: Formatting Assessment clearly and accurately follows the School of Health, Exercise and Recreation guidelines for formatting and APA (7th ed.) referencing.
